Jaitra Student's Union 23-24 of Verghese Kurien Institute
of Dairy and Food Technology, Kerala veterinary and
animal sciences university have conducted a one week
program as part of National milk day celebrations under
the banner 'PAALVAARAM '23', to commemorate the birth
anniversary of Dr. Verghese Kurien, the milk man of India.
Various competitions were conducted as a part of
Paalvaaram’23. An Online poster making competion and a
photography competition was conducted. The online
poster making competition was open for KVASU students
and photography competion was open to all.
Advertisement and extempore competitions were
conducted for vkidft students and treasure hunt for vkidft
family.
An awareness program was conducted at 10.30 am. The gathering was addressed by Dr. Jose Mathew , associate patron VKIDFT and felicitations were given by Dr.Aparna Sudhakaran V and Mr.Faisal I. A flash mob was performed by the students, followed by an awareness skit. An awareness talk was given by Ms.Gouri Krishna ,Ms. Sreelakshmi S. and Ms.Angel Manual. The whole program was to address various milk myths prevailing in the society and to introduce newly developed technologies and products in the dairy sector. Chocolates sponsored by Amul, was handed over by Dr. Jose Mathew to Dr.Aparna Sudhakaran V, Mr. Aswanth P.V, president of Jaitra Students’ Union 23-24 and to Ms.Aardra Kattasseri, secretary of Jaitra Students' union 23-24. Then the chocolates were distributed to audience. An advertisement competition was conducted at VKIDFT seminar hall. The students were allowed to participate as a team of 2 members. Each team was given 5 minutes to discuss and to prepare for the presentation. It was astounding to see how the students have put their thoughts and humour to make their products more attractive and interesting. A panel of 3 members, Mr.Vaishak V.L, Mr. Faisal I And Mr. Muhammed Riyas.P were the judges of the competition. The prize for the winners were sponsored by Ernamkulam regional MILMA.
A Treasure hunt was conducted at vkidft. The program was started in the presence of Dr.S.N.Rajakumar Dean VKIDFT, Dr A.K.Beena Associate dean VKIDFT, Dr.Jose Mathew Associate patron VKIDFT. A team of 6 members formed 8 groups including the teachers , students and non teaching staffs. The competition started with a task. The team which completed the task were given the first clue. 8 clues were kept hidden in different locations of the campus. The team of Dr Rashmi , Ms. Gloria jacob , Mrs. Anumol (faculties, vkidft), Agney, Aswathy and Abhijth (students of vkidft) got the treasure and were claimed as the winners. Everyone elavated the game to a competitive level. The Treasure hamper was sponsored by Ernakulam Milma (ERMCPU).
A vedio presentation , created by the students of VKIDFT was released on official VKIDFT Instagram page and shared to all the VKIDFT members. The vedio contained about the objectives of celebrating National Milk Day, and about Dr. Verghese Kurien and his valuable contributions in Indian dairy sector.
We presented an awareness skit at navakerala sadass, paanjal grameena vayanashala. A gathering of 130 farmers were assembled for the function. The Malabar milma chairman was present as the chief guest of the programme. The skit included newer technologies in the dairy sector and the prevailing myths in the society. The chief guest complimented the students. The DEO of Pazhayannur , Mr.Anoop P.A gave us the opportunity to conduct the program as a part of the Nava Kerala sadass. The students were provided lunch by the programme committee.
Students of vkidft conducted an awareness section at st. vincents palloti central school, kalathode. The program was commenced with a flash mob followed by an awareness skit and awareness talks about various myths and newer technologies in the dairy sector. An adulteration detection demonstration class was also given. An interactive quiz section was the main attraction of the program. Chocolate was given to the participants and principal. By 11:30 am an extempore competition was conducted for VKIDFT students at the seminar hall, Mr. Muhammad Riyas P, Mrs. Anjumol Jacob, and Mrs. Ritty Kuriacose were the judges of the program. The prize for winners was sponsored by Milma.
The day began at 10.30 am by paying floral tribute to the statue of the Great personality Dr. Verghese Kurien by the invited dignitaries. By 10.45 am an EXPERT TALKS session was conducted at VKIDFT seminar hall. The programme officially commenced with taking the milk day oath by the students led by the respected associate dean, Dr. A K Beena ma’am. The gathering was welcomed by Nazrin Nazer, Vice President Jaitra Students union 23-24 and the presidential address was given by Dr. S N Rajakumar, Dean VKIDFT. Sri. T Nandakumar, former NDDB Chairman rendered the key note address. The milk day message was given by honourable Vice Chancellor, KVASU , Dr. M R Saseendranath Sir. Sri. Sreelakshmi U of 2018 batch , was given the award for the best outgoing student of the year by T. Nandakumar Sir and the best woman dairy farmer award was recieved by Srimati. Leema Roslein S from Sri. C P Charles, member of CEC IDA New Delhi. Special address was rendered by Sri. C P Charles and Dr. R Rajendra Kumar. The calender jointly published by AFSTI, Thrissur chapter and IDA, Kerala Chapter was released in the presence of invited dignitaries. The felicitations were delivered by Dr. P I Geeverghese, former Dean CDST. The milk day oriented video created by the students was presented on the occasion. The momentos were handed over to T Nandakumar sir , C P Charles sir and Dr. R Rajendra Kumar sir by Dean, Dr S N Rajakumar sir, Dr. P I Geeverghese sir and T Nandakumar sir respectively. Then, an interactive session with T Nandakumar Sir was followed by the vote of thanks delivered by Dr.Aparna Sudhakaran V, Secretary IDA Kerala Chapter.
